Planning your next step
There are many reasons why a business owner may decide to plan an exit, merger or strategic partnership. It could be the result of a planned retirement and succession issue, maybe the business is missing market opportunities or the founder has reached a point where the business needs the additional energy, resources and financial support of a larger group in order to continue its expansion. Businesses can often grow quickly in the early years, before turnover starts to level off at maturity investment and reinvigoration is often needed. Don't ignore the signs.
Timing is critical
Regardless of the reason, do not wait until you business has reached a plateau or is in decline. Plan ahead, try to predict future threats and opportunities. Explore opportunities and engage with complementary business targets, you have little to lose and much to gain.
