Mergers are actively seeking a Scientific Instrument Design & Manufacture business on behalf of an AIM-listed Trade Buyer. The acquirer is a leading designer of scientific instruments with established activities in fire testing, ultra-high vacuum, fibreoptic testing, electron microscopy and noble gas purification. Headquartered in the UK, they operate both nationally and internationally, with a proven track record of innovation, expansion, and supporting growth through acquisition.
Industry Focus:
The company is actively seeking to acquire manufacturers of scientific instruments. Of particular importance is that target businesses own the intellectual property rights to their products, with preference given to those with highly specialised, innovative, and technically advanced solutions.
Target Market:
The acquirer is especially interested in companies with strong export-led sales models, ideally generating at least 80% of revenues from international markets. Target businesses should be well-established in their field, with a reputation for delivering high-quality, reliable scientific instruments to research institutions, industry, and global customers.
Financial Performance:
The target company must demonstrate a robust financial profile, with an EBIT margin greater than 20%. For self-standing entities, a minimum EBIT of £500,000 is required. Bolt-on acquisitions are also welcomed, with no specific EBIT limit. Transparent and audited financial records will be essential for evaluation.
Geographic Location:
The acquirer is interested in opportunities based in Europe. Businesses with an existing international footprint or the ability to expand into new global markets will be particularly attractive.
